Abstract
520,076. Colour photography. KODAK, Ltd., and JELLEY, E. E. Aug. 12, 1938, No. 23833. [Class 98 (ii)] In a process for the production of coloured images in multi-layer colour photographic material wherein light sensitive silver salt images in the layers have to be selectively exposed, the light sensitive salt in an outer layer or in both outer layers is exposed with the aid of ultraviolet light having a wavelength wholly within the range which the emulsion binder, e.g., gelatine is capable of absorbing. The ultra-violet light may be obtained by filtering light from a line or continuous source through a filter, which may consist of an ultra-violet transmitting solid distributed in an ultra-violet transmitting medium, the dispersions of solid and liquid being different but their refractive indices for the selected wavelength may be the same, and, whose temperature may be controlled. The method may replace the exposure to red light of the lower layer described in example 1 of Specification 500,826, and the exposure to coloured light of the lower layer of a three-layer element, after removal of the negative silver, as described in Specification 501,000, or may be applied to the process of Specifications 501,002, Specifications 440,032 and 500,717 also are referred to.
