520,054. Applying bottles &c. closures. GAMBLE, W. R., HODSON, A., FINLAYSON, W. B., HORTON, W., and METAL CLOSURES, Ltd. Oct. 21, 1938, No. 30498. [Class 125 (ii)] Metal closures 4 are fixed on bottles or necks by deforming a skirt 6 and bead 7 into direct engagement with a formation 3 on the neck, by rollers 15 capable of lateral translational movement. The roller shafts may be rotated about the container, or the containers may be rotated. Axial pressure by a plunger 14 compresses a washer 8 of cork &c. The rollers 15 may be vertically adjustable and their edges are fluted, bevelled &c.
