Abstract

520,012. Set-off, preventing. BEREGH, T. J. March 6, 1939, No. 7242. [Class 100 (ii)] A spraying device 19 for applying offset preventing material to printed sheets is adapted to be automatically actuated by either or both of a pair of moving parts of the press. One part may be an arm 30 connected to the inking mechanism and serving to trip that mechanism at the end of the stroke of the printing bed and also when the press throw out mechanism is operated, and the other part may be arm 48 of the sheet delivery mechanism which operates as long as the press is running. The air supply to the sprayer may be obtained from the cylinders 13 which cushion the movements of the bed and the air valve of the sprayer is opened by a trigger 21 connected by linkage 22, 43, 42 to a lever 41, one end of which may be connected by a detachable link 47 to the arm 48 and the other end of which is connected by a chain 40 to a rod 37 connected to one end of a lever 34, the other end of which is connected by a chain 35 to the arm 30. A spring 39 on the rod 37 acts to open the air valve of the sprayer when permitted by the arm 30. Specification 478.619 is referred to.
