[Class 6 (i)] In a tractor-drawn agricultural implement, the depth of cut is controlled by a variable delivery pump which is regulated by the variations in the pull of the tractor or in the position of a ground-surface member relatively to the implement tool. The pump delivers to a ram which adjusts the depth of cut. A driven shaft a carries an eccentric b within another eccentric c surrounded by the strap (not shown) of a connecting rod for operating the pump. The eccentric b carries a pin b' on which is pivoted an arm d which is held by a spring e against an abutment c<1> on the cam c. A tapered boss f slides on the shaft a under control of a fork g on a rod h which moves either in accordance with the pull exerted by the tractor or with the position of a groundsurface member relatively to the implement tool, so that the eccentricity of the eccentric c is correspondingly varied. In a modification, the pump is driven by a crank of constant radius which oscillates a pivoted rod of variable length, an intermediate point in the rod being connected to the pump rod. In another modification, the crank pin may work in an angularly adjustable guide and be connected through a link to the pump plunger. The guide is adjusted by the tractor pull or the position of a groundsurface member. The pump delivery is normally that necessary to hold the ram in the predetermined position and is varied when necessary to restore the ram to that position.
