Abstract

519,058. Thermionic valve circuits. KRAMOLIN, L. L. DE. June 7, 1938, No. 26330/39. Divided out of 513,626, under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 23, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] Grid bias potential is derived by means which involve substantially no additional expenditure of current or voltage from the high tension source. Part of the output of a high frequency generator, e.g., the local oscillator of a superheterodyne receiver, may be rectified and used as bias, means being provided to prevent fluctuations of voltage with variation of the oscillator voltage. The Figure shows an arrangement in which a positive bias is applied to the grid 6 of the valve H through decoupling means O and a potentiometer P which may be varied automatically or by manual means to vary the amplifier gain or feedback and so the band width passed. The output of the oscillator valve B is limited by biassed diode D and the tuning is controlled by the diode R and the valve U as described in Specification 513,626. When the source of grid bias is an oscillator the bias may be maintained constant by a current or voltage limiting device which may be a biassed rectifier. The rectifier for the high frequency oscillation may be a diode contained in the oscillator valve envelope. The bias voltage may be fed through decoupling means and be used to charge secondary elements which may assist in the decoupling and comprise electrolytic condensers. The desired potential may be obtained by transformation of the high frequency oscillations. U.S.A. Specification 2,048,758 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the valve and tuning coil construction and remote tuning and volume control arrangements described in Specification 513,626. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
