519,056. Hair - waving appliances. GOTTFRIED, B. April 1, 1939, No. 10246. [Class 131] Apparatus for permanent hairwaving comprises a satchet c which is wound around a perforated tubular member a and inserted into an adapter b so as to make a steam - tight joint therewith. A heater is then placed over the part b so as to rest on the flange a<1> of the member a, and the combined apparatus is finally placed over the tress of hair wound around the curler, which may be of the form disclosed in Specification 498,813. The flange a<1> may rest on a scalp protector of the kind described in Specification 497,475. The adapter b may be dispensed with. The sachet comprises a layer of absorbent material c<1> stitched to a non- absorbent sheet c, which may be metal foil, having its edges c<3> bent over.
