Abstract
519,018. Cement kilns. FULLER CO. Aug. 12, 1938, No. 23889. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1937. Drawings to Specification. [Class 51 (ii)] A method of producing Portland cement in a rotary kiln consists in injecting a stream of fuel surrounded by a stream of preheated secondary air into the discharge end of the kiln and directing the streams so that they do not impinge on the clinker which is discharged in a partly molten state in the form of an inclined bed which is advanced continuously while undergoing agitation. Air is forced through the clinker bed to effect cooling thereof, the cooling air being utilized wholly or in part as secondary air. The air passes into the clinker bed in the form of vertical and horizontal jets the location of which is continuously changing at different levels. The method is carried out in apparatus described in Specification 519,057.
