Abstract

<PICT:0359080/III/1> In a process for the production of lime &c., slurry is blown into the upper part of a shaft furnace in a downward direction to meet a mixture of fuel and air blown in an upward direction into the lower part of the furnace. As shown the slurry is introduced through nozzle 1 and the fuel blown in with air through nozzle 3, the calcined material being received in a container 9 filled with water. Specification 276,066, [Class 51 (ii), Furnaces and kilns for applying &c.], is referred to.
