Abstract
518,849. Filing papers. LABIN, J. Sept. 9, 1938, Nos. 26379/38, 6172/39 and 20795/39. [Class 146 (i)] In a loose-leaf binder A having a support B with teeth D at its ends for elastic bands E which engage the folds of sheets, books &c. F, the teeth are shaped so as to retain the bands which pass around the support or teeth and between the teeth. The teeth may be formed by a series, of separate members locked on to a textile 'tape 4 which provides a cushion for the bands. The bands are endless and may be formed by securing in a sleeve the ends of a rubber band comprising a number of threads covered by wool or silk The support may form the back C of the binder or may be secured at one or both edges inside the binder, and may be hinged, on one edge to the binder and fastened on the other edge by press-buttons or pivoted clips 6. The support may have one or two flaps inserted in pockets within the binder. Sheets may be reinforced by gummed paper or vertical wire staples at the fold. Instead of sheets, double-flap envelopes may be secured in the binder. The first Provisional Specification states that the carrier and papers may have corresponding recesses or notches and the retaining member may consist of .wire which may be spirally wound, or the recesses &c. may' be formed on metal grips arranged at the ends of the carrier. The third Provisional Specification describes a flexible plate with prongs fitting between the teeth D to prevent the elastic slipping out, and also a wire reinforcement for the carrier.
