Abstract

518,689. Valve relays. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and BELL, D. A. Sept. 2, 1938, No. 25775. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A rectifier is connected in the grid circuit of a gas-filled valve fed with alternating current to prevent flow of grid current. The circuit is fed from the alternating source M, through transformer MT, the anode being supplied over winding S1 and the grid being fed in phase oposition over winding S2 and potentiometer P1, the tapping on P1 being adjusted so that no discharge occurs. The secondary S2 also supplies a master control device C over potentiometer P2 and the output of this device is amplified at A and its phase is adjusted to produce sufficient potential across T to trigger valve V. The arrangement of rectifier G prevents feed back to the input circuit when the valve discharges and is of use in circuits for supplying synchronising pulses to " line " and " frame " time-bases for cathode rav tubes which are not required to lock in step.
