[Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Gang-controlled reactances having switch means to change the wavebands, have auxiliary reactances associated with a plurality of tuning bands controlled by the ganging means and 'capable of adjustment by deformation of moving or controlling parts to correct for tracking errors. The correcting means may be additional to the usual padding condenser. The auxiliary impedance may be capacitative, as shown in Fig. 5, in which auxiliary condensers 1, 2 are mounted on the main shaft, or inductive as shown in Fig. 7 in which a coil has a moving core P mounted on a spring IS and controlled through a tappet ST by a laterally-deformable cam TC. Separate condensers 1, 2 or coils l and cams TC are provided for separate wave bands and in the former case the appropriate condenser is connected up by additional contacts on the wave-band switch. The apparatus is particularly applicable to superheterodyne receivers with the auxiliary reactance connected in the local-oscillator circuit.
