Abstract

518,215. Ventilating buildings. BERLOWITZ, M., and CLIMATOR, Ltd. July 13, 1938, No. 20840. [Class 137] The rooms of a building are ventilated by a fan 10 which blows air through a filter 11 and, if desired, a heater or cooler (not shown) and supplies the dust-free air to a duct 12 from which it passes through the staircase well to enter the rooms through sound-proof openings 13. The sound absorbing means may consist of a lining of material such as glass-wool, asbestos, or fibre boards provided in the openings, or the openings may have baffles in labyrinth form through which the air passes. The increased air pressure in the rooms prevents the entrance of dust. The air escapes from the rooms through the spaces between the windows and their frames, or through the chimneys, but outlet ventilators may be provided. In a modification, the air may be supplied above a false ceiling from which it enters the rooms through ventilation openings.
