Abstract

518,178. Aircraft wings. AEROPLASTICS, Ltd. (formerly DEEKAY AIRCRAFT CORPORATION, Ltd.), and STILL, S. C. HART-. Aug. 16, 1938, No. 24178. Addition to 497,623. [Class 4] Aircraft wings as claimed in the parent Specification have the cells divided from one another by a metal box spar or by thin sheet or plate metal members instead of by plates of moulded thermo plastic material. Fig. 2 shows a wing formed with upper and lower stressed members 3 of thermo-hardening plastic material' connected by screws 6, Fig. 5, to semicircular members 5 secured to flanges 4 on metal plate members 2 extending along the span of the wing. Ribs 10 are formed on the members 3 at intermediate positions and fore-and-aft partitions are provided at intervals. The plates 2 are reinforced at intervals. In an alternative construction the members 3 are secured to a single box girder structure.
