517,368. Starch. INTERNATIONAL PATENTS DEVELOPMENT CO. April 28, 1938, No. 12766. Convention date, June 17, 1937. [Class 121] Starch grits for use in brewing &c. are prepared by heating a suspension of starch in water for a time sufficient to swell the starch cells without disruption. The starch is separated and dried. The suspension is heated at 140- 152‹F. for one to ten minutes, and may contain small amounts of sulphur dioxide derived from the starch-making process. Before drying, the suspension may be partly neutralized by addition of sodium carbonate.
