Abstract

517,292. Vehicle undercarriages. ALVIS, Ltd., REMINGTON, J. G., and DUNN, W. M. July 19, 1938, No. 21355. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (ill)] An independent suspension for a motor vehicle comprises a transverse wishbone link formed by two bars 11 rigidly secured together in .spaced relation, the bars having aligned eyes at one end at least, and each eye having an internal radial abutment 14 against which rest two rubber sleeves 15, long enough to project beyond the eye, a pin 18 being passed through both eyes and serving with washers 16 and the part 17, to which the link is to be hinged, to place the sleeves under axial compression. Alternatively the rubber sleeves may be in an eye of the part to which the link is hinged and be subject to axial compression as the two bars 11 are drawn together, the pin 18 then becoming locked in the link. The free ends of the sleeves 15 splay out as shown and the edges 20 of the eyes may be rounded. A sleeve 21 may limit the degree of compression.. The link is particularly applicable for use with a transverse leaf spring bolted to the differential casing' as described in Specification 517,281, [Group XXXI].
