Abstract

754,485. Leaf springs; road-vehicle undercarriages. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. May 7, 1954 [May 9, 1953], No. 13427/54. Classes 108 (2) and 108 (3). In a leaf spring which is widened towards its clamping area, the spring is secured against displacement by bolts or pins 21 (Fig. 5) made to have a close fitting engagement with formations in the spring, and disposed at each side of the spring outside of the clamping area. The latter is defined as the quadrilateral area bounded by two side edges of the clamp plate 9, and the lines connecting the points of intersection of these side edges with the spring plate 19. In Fig. 5, the spring plate 19 has recesses which fit the curvature of the bolts 21. Alternatively separate bolts may be used for clamping and positioning respectively. In a similar construction (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) only two bolts 21 are employed. In Fig. 7 the bolts 21 pass through holes 26 in the spring plate 19. The ends of the spring plate 19 may be formed with spherical heads 22, as shown, for engagement with parts of an axle mounting. In Fig. 4, the spring plate 19 carries sockets 16 by means of threaded parts 14, 15, to accommodate either end of a king pin 17. In a further modification, there may be no positive coupling between the leaf spring and the axle mounting, a roller on the mounting running on a track formed on the spring plate 19.
