Abstract
517,256. Filing papers. FEDERN, H. R. Oct. 5, 1938, No. 28872. [Class 146 (i)] A letter file has one or more transfer arches 20, 21 with legs pivotally mounted on the supporting members 10, 11 which are collapsable together in such a way that the arches swing or tend to swing round on these legs as pivotal axes. The members 10, 11 are pivotally connected by rigid links 12, 13. Member 10 is riveted at 14 to the cover 16, while the hinged back 17 is wider than the maximum height of the arch. The sockets 19 are fixed to either members 10, 11 or links 12, 13 and in the former case the legs of the arches must rotate in the sockets or be flexible and deformed during collapsing. The arches are made of cylindrical rubber cord or closely coiled wire and are secured by transverse pins 22 with catches 23 or by spring catches within the sockets. Auxiliary transfer pins 24 may engage additional perforations in the papers, or the lower ends of the arches may be rigid such as by forming them as posts 25, Fig. 3, with sockets 28 threaded to receive the oppositely-threaded ends 27 of the flexible arch 26. Catches may be provided for holding the, device in extended position.
