Abstract

516,886. Valves. BROWN, F. V., and AIRCRAFTINGS, Ltd. July 12, 1938, No. 20617. [Class 135] A valve-unit adapted to be readily removed from a housing without disturbing the connections thereof comprises a ported body or casing formed with external grooves receiving a basket - like packing for sealing the ports from one another. The unit shown in the Figure comprises a conical plug a engaging a seating c in a body b mounted in a housing d formed with four sockets d‹. The body is secured by bolts passing through lugs n, or by a cap nut or the like. The plug is formed with a through hole l, and the seating and body are formed with ports m leading to the sockets d'. The body is formed externally with two circumferential grooves and four longitudinal grooves for receiving a basket-like packing consisting of rings k, k' and four connecting- pieces k<2>. The valve may, as described in Specification 481,128, be provided with a camdevice for easing the plug when the handle h is turned. When the valve-body has only two ports, the basket-like packing consists of two rings and two connecting-pieces.
