Abstract

516,604. Oscillating-vane pumps. LIST, H. July 1, 1938, No. 19500. Convention date, July 6, 1937. [Class 110 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXV] An electromagnet 1 energized by alternating current has a curved surface comprising the poles and an intermediate non-magnetic part on to which an armature 10 is intermittently drawn down so that its line of contact therewith travels, causing fluid to be drawn in and forced through a valved outlet 15. The outlet may discharge into an injector tube 18, Fig. 2. The armature may be a flexible plate or a rigid rolling plate as in Fig. 3 which shows the plate in conjunction with blade springs 19, 20, constituting a valved pump chamber at each end. Alternatively a rigid plate of segmental section may roll on a flat magnet. Fig. 13, shows a hemicylindrical armature 3, coacting with a like valved face 1.
