Abstract

516,488. Hydraulic clutches. BOHRINGEN GES., GEB. June 29, 1938, Nos. 19275 and 19276. Convention dates, June 29, 1937, and June 21, 1938. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group IX] A speed regulating mechanism more especially for regulating the speed of the spools in a spinning machine comprises an hydraulic transmission interposed between the driving and the driven shaft and comprising a variable pump and a variable fluid motor fed by the pump, the pump and motor being individually controlled from two different elements moving by and during the operation of the machine in such a manner that a basic variation is imparted to the driven shaft by the control of one of the elements and a cyclic variation by the control of the other element; in the case of a spinning machine, the variable pump is controlled by either the building motion shaft or the ratchet wheel shaft and the variable fluid motor by the other shaft so that the speed of the spools is varied under the combined control from the building motion shaft and ratchet wheel shaft. As shown the spool shaft 11 of a spinning machine is driven from a constant speed motor 12 through hydraulic transmission comprising a variable pump 14 and variable fluid motor 15, the former being controlled by a radially shiftable member 45 actuated by a rod 19 from the ratchet gearing of the building-motion and the latter by a similar member 45' actuated by a rod 20 from the building motion shaft. The hydraulic transmission. is' preferably that described in German Specification 519,686. The ratchet wheel shaft 21 is geared, to a shaft 24 carrying a cam 27 which actuates a pivoted lever 31 linked to the rod 19 and gives the basic variation by performing one complete revolution while the caps are completely built up while the cam 28 on the building motion shaft actuating the rod 20 performs one revolution for each reciprocation of the ring rail and gives the cyclic variation. The lever 31 has a handle 37 by which the cam follower 33 may be moved into engagement with the cam 27 to start the machine; when the follower 33 is moved out of engagement with the cam, the rod 19 is shifted to reduce the feed to The pump to zero and the shaft 11 stops.
