Abstract

514,430. Centrifugal pumps. SALERNI, P. M. April 7, 1938, No. 10653. [Class 110 (i)] An impeller formed by walls 9, 10, rotates on a shaft 2, and fluid is impelled from an inlet 4 to an outlet 5 through ducts which, throughout a part near the outlets, have an axial component of direction, are non-divergent, and are backwardly curved relative to the direction of rotation. The non-divergent portions are also such that any 'cross-section can be superposed on any other nearer to the inlet without any overlap. Fig. 8 shows cross-section lines between the parts 4 and 5 with ducts formed by vanes gradually increasing in thickness from d-d to a-a, the ducts. decreasing in cross-sectional area towards the outlets. The corners of the ducts are rounded.
