Abstract
514,003. Signs. JACOBY, M. April 25, 1938, No. 12353. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 25, 1938.] [Class 3 (ii)] In a sign comprising translucent characters upstanding from an opaque wall in front of a light source and carried by said wall or by a transparent panel mounted in a frame on said wall, a reflector is provided behind the light source having an ornamental configuration projecting beyond the edges of the characters or of the frame to form an illuminated ornamental rear border for the sign. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 6, 7, the characters 2 are supported on a wall 1 in front of a reflector 5 illuminated by a lamp 4. Parts of the characters are rendered more translucent than other parts so as to give apparent depth to the characters. The reflector is formed by folding a resilient sheet 5, Fig. 9, and is painted or printed with lines 9 to give added depth to the sign. In alternative constructions the reflector is fan-shaped or U-shaped. In another embodiment Figs. 12, 13, the translucent display figure 17 is pasted on chiffon or similar fabric' 16 mounted in a frame 15 supported in front of a reflector 5 provided with an ornamental border 5a. To ensure the secure fixing of the display figure, a " mirror image of the figure is pasted to the back of the fabric behind the figure.
