[Class 141] A shirt comprises an opening which passes through and extends from the neckband either along a shoulder or along a portion of the shirt between a shoulder and that part of the front of the shirt which is exposed when worn with a jacket or waistcoat, the opening being adapted to be closed by fastening means which are located only outside the neckband so that when fully fastened they leave the adjoining ends of the neckband free to allow play or yield, the shirt &c. also comprising raised strip means having fastening means, e.g., buttons thereon to simulate the opening and closure means usually provided down the front of a shirt. In the form shown, the opening 2 passes through and extends from the neckband 3 along a shoulder to the sleeve seam, and is adapted to be fastened by buttons and buttonholes 5a, 6, 6a. A raised strip 7 is formed on the front of the shirt by folding and stitching down the shirt material along two spaced lines, the strip being provided with buttons 7a. In a modification, the opening extends partly along a shoulder and then vertically down the front of the shirt on one side of the centre line thereof to form a shirt of coat type. In a further modification, the raised strip is formed by sewing a strip down the centre of the front of the shirt.
