512,776. Connecting-rods. DRAGOS, T. Dec. 6, 1937, No. 33742. Void, Convention date, Dec. 5, 1936. [Class 122(i)] A connecting-rod comprises a cylindrical portion 4 for transmitting tensile forces, an inner rod 2 for compressive forces a U-shaped big end cap 9 secured to the part 4 by a bolt or bolts 8 passing with clearance through the rod 2, and tightening means for adjusting the bearing cap. The tightening means may be a nut 6 having right and left hand threads engaging two parts of the cylindrical portion 4. Alternatively the adjustment may be effected by a cotter extending 'through the portion 4, which is then formed in one piece, and the rod 2. Lubricating passages extend from the big end bearing oneither side of the bolt 8 to a central passage in the rod leading to the small end.
