Abstract

512,316. Woven fabrics. TOOTAL BROADHURST LEE CO., Ltd., CORTEEN, H. and FOULDS, R. P. Nov. 29, 1937, Nos. 32833/37 and 14134/38. [Class 142 (iv)] [Also in Group VII] A woven fabric for use in the manufacture of collars comprises groups of warp threads between the lines 11, 12, which have a greater tension imparted to them during weaving than the remaining warp threads, the collar blanks being cut from the fabric in such a manner that a group of warp threads of greater tension are located adjacent to the lower edge of the neckband. In a modification, pre-stretched threads are incorporated in the fabric during the weaving operation. The second Provisional Specification describes a method of producing differential shrinkage in a web by fixing to, or weaving into, the web, tapes, films, or threads which contract when wetted. The tapes, &c. may be woven in under tension or secured by sewing, threading, or adhesive, and may produce longitudinal or lateral shrinkage of the web.
