Abstract

254,545. Axelroad, L. Aug. 13, 1925. Producing biassed fabrics from ordinary fabrics; edges, twisting. - Bias-cut bindings, tapings, and pipings for use on clothing &c. are treated at the edges to prevent unfraying. The binding is made by cutting ordinary wide fabric into wide bias-cut strips, sewing the selvages together to form a long strip which is then wound on a cardboard tube h, Fig. 6. The resulting roll is then severed into a number of narrower rolls k, each edge of each roll k being treated with glue or other adhesive to prevent the cut edges from fraying. Fig. 9 shows the resulting strip formed of individual strips d sewn together at f and having adhesive applied to the cut edges l.
