Fashioning, weaving to facilitate; diagonally wefted fabrics; fabrics of varying thickness; materials, special, fabrics containing; double and multiple fabrics ; fabrics with curved wefts.-A flat level fabric for use in making soft or semisoft folding collars is woven with curved wefts and straight warps as shown in Fig. 5, the parts 29 corresponding to the fold lines of the collars being woven to render them more flexible but not weaker than the rest of the fabric. As shown in Fig. 6, a double fabric may be provided with warps A - - D, a binding warp K and a gut warp G. In the fold part 29, the gut warp G runs with the warp B and the warp K with the warp C to produce flexibility. In another form, a triple fabric shown in Fig. 7 has the upper plies formed as in the fabric shown in Fig. 6 except that the gut warp G binds in the lower plain single ply at spaced intervals, so that the fabric may be severed by a knife into two separate plies. The edges are then turned in and hemmed without whipstitching or tape. The wefts W<1> at the fold parts 29 may differ from the remaining wefts. The fabric is woven in a loom having a curved reed.
