512,266. Curving. CAIRNS METALS CORPORATION. May 10, 1938, No. 13973. Convention date, March 29. [Class 83 (iv)] In a machine for longitudinally or transversely curving metal sheets, parabolic rolls 42, 36 are supported on shafts 44, 32 extending in opposite directions and secured in a C-shaped frame 22. The roll 42 is supported by an adjustable thrust roller 55 and is rotated by an electromotor 50. The roller 36 is mounted in a bearing 30 adjusted by a handwheel 34 and is supported by an adjustable thrust roller 40. The sheet is held in clamps 114 vertically adjustable by handwheels on screws 122 and transversely adjustable by screws 96. The clamps are secured to chains 76 driven by chain gearing from the electromotor 50. In operation, the sheet to be bulged is secured to the clamps and passed between the rolls 42, 36 and the screws 122, 96 are rotated by the handwheels to vary the position of the sheet relatively to the rolls.
