Abstract
1,116,249. Rolling; stretching; bending; improving physical properties. COMPAGNIE DES ATELIERS ET FORGES DE LA LOIRE. 20 June, 1966 [23 Aug., 1965], No. 27478/66. Headings B3E, B3M and B3V. An apparatus for cold-hardening a metal sheet 1 comprises a cold-rolling stand 4, a planishing or levelling stand 5 and a pair of driving units 22, 6 driven at speeds whose ratio is adjustable to a predetermined value. The sheet enters the apparatus through the unit 22 which comprises five rollers 24 and a presser roller 23 to allow slack in the sheet upstream from the unit. The roller 23 is journalled in a pair of levers 26 (26<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 3 (not shown), each responsive to a pistoncylinder unit 28. From the unit 22 the sheet passes between the rolls 30, 31 of the rolling stand 4 wherein it is cold-rolled and then to the planishing or levelling stand 5. The stand 5 comprises a pair of rollers 34, 35 each with a pair of bearing rollers 36, 36<SP>1</SP>, 37, 37<SP>1</SP>. A roller 40 is mounted in bearings in a plate 43 fixed to the plate 39 which houses the bearing rollers 37, 37<SP>1</SP>. The roller 40 presses the sheet against a smaller roller 41 mounted on a pivoted support 44 movable by an eccentrically mounted disc 47. The sheet passes from the stand 5 to the outlet unit 6 which comprises rollers 25 and a presser roller 7 which allows for slack in the sheet downstream from the unit similar to the unit 22. The rollers and rolls of the apparatus are driven from a motor (17), Fig. 3 (not shown), through differentials &c. to shafts (9), (12), (20), (10), (13). An hydraulic motor (16) is connected by a variable output pump (18) to an output shaft (53) of the motor (17). By adjustment of the pump (18) feeding the hydraulic motor (16) the desired ratio between the speeds of the units 22, 6 can be obtained.
