[Classes 79 (i), 79 (ii), 79 (iv) and 79 (v)] To lengthen the wheelbase of tractors &c. wherein the engine, transmission and rear-axle casings, assembled as a unit, form the chassis frame, an extra casing section is inserted between two of the original casing sections and the working parts thereby separated are interconnected' by means of duplicates of the original parts and small coupling members. As shown applied to a Fordson tractor, an extra casing section A has been inserted between the originally directly connected casings B, C, the casing C retaining the original shaft length i withdrawn from the clutch I. The clutch pedal d and associated mechanisms has been transferred from the casing C to the casing A, the disused opening being closed by -a coverplate e. In like manner to the mounting of the shaft i in the casing C, a duplicate h of this shaft section, including the socketed and internally and externally toothed end h<1>, is mounted in a standard bearing g in a web f provided in the casing-section A, so that it fits into the clutch in place of the shaft i. To complete the connection, a coupling sleeve j, formed at one end to engage the socket h<1> and at the other end to fit the shaft i, is provided. The brake transmission linkage is completed in similar manner, a duplicate o<1> of the original part o being mounted in the web f and the parts being rigidly connected by an intermediate member q. A door is provided in the section A to allow access for adjustment of the brake mechanism.
