Abstract
507,895. Tractors. PORSCHE, F. Jan. 27, 1939, No. 2834. Convention date, April 27, 1938. [Classes 79 (i), 79 (ii), 79 (iii), and 79 (iv)] The chassis frame of a tractor is formed, by the housings 1 of the different parts of the driving mechanism, the frame being divided solely in the central longitudinal plane M-M, Fig. 2, of the tractor. In the construction shown the housing has separate compartments 5 .. 9 for the engine crank-shaft, the clutch, the change-speed gear, reducing gear, and the axle drive ; in a modification the engine is formed separately from and is bolted to the frame. The two parts 1, 1<1> of the housing are provided with locating pins 3 and are secured together by bolts 4. When the axes of the various shafts are in the central plane M-M, (as shown) the shaft bearings are seated correctly by means of screws 4<1>. The front axle (not shown) is secured to parts 20 at the front end of the frame ; and the rear axle tubes 19, 19<1> are integral with the frame. The crank-shaft may be mounted in bearing covers removable in the axial direction so that the engine can be taken down without having to dismantle the whole frame or housing.
