Abstract

511,807. Closures for powder containers. WILSON, R. W. June 1, 1938, No. 16365. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1937. [Classes 18 and 125 (iii)] A container for tooth powder and the like has an opening b<1> in the end face of the neck b, and is provided with a closure cap c having an opening c<4>. Depending flanges c<3> at each end of the cap can be pressed by the fingers to slide the cap to bring the openings into register for discharge of powder, or out of register to close the container. The sliding cap has side flanges with beads c' which .engage in grooves b<4> in the container neck; these grooves may be inclined slightly so that the cap is seated tightly on the neck when it is moved to its closed position. The container neck b has a shoulder or step b<3> which is normally hidden by the cap, and which enables the length of the sliding cap to be restricted. The large slotted openings b<1>, c' may be replaced by a number of smaller orifices. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification in which the neck portion is made in two parts, the upper part being crimped on to the lower shouldered part. The cap is attached to the upper part. This -subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
