Abstract

511,764. Injection moulding. ECKERT & ZIEGLER GES. March 24, 1939, No. 9345. Convention date, March 25,1938. [Class 87 (ii]) In an injection moulding machine for thermoplastic artificial materials, the material is fed to the injection plunger by a conveyer worm surrounding the plunger or its cylinder. The plunger 3 is of annular cross-section and surrounds a core member 4 which is internally heated. The space 1 communicates with the nozzle 6 through passages 5. A worm 9, driven by a gear wheel 15, surrounds the plunger 3 and feeds material from an inlet 16 to the space 1 through passages 17. The cylinder 2 is heated by a coil 7 and the worm is heated by electric elements 13. The amount of material supplied to the cylinder is regulated by varying the speed of the worm or the amount supplied thereto or by intermittently stopping the worm.
