[Class 4] An aeroplane includes a variable-pitch propeller driven from an engine through a changespeed reduction gear the speed changes of which can be effected substantially instantaneously and without the engine having to be throttled down, means whereby the pitch of the propeller can be automatically varied to maintain the engine speed constant and a supercharger for the engine which is driven therefrom through a change-speed gear. The change-speed gears may be two-speed gears. Specification 413,005, [Group XXVII], is referred to.
