511,586. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. (Hoover Co.). Feb. 19, 1938, No. 25177. Divided out of 511,532. [Class 8 (i)] The rear wheels 4 are mounted on a pivot 13 on the casing and are pressed away from the casing by a spring ; the wheel-carrier is formed with a lever 18 which when the floor nozzle is in operation closes a valved passage 11 by which a converter for off-the-floor cleaning is introduced. The wheel axles are carried in a slot of a heightadjusting rod 17. In a modification, the wheelcarrier is directly acted on by a height-adjustment rod, and the lever thereon is formed with lugs which form guides and catches for the converter attachment.
