[Class 58] [Also in Group XIII] Grain or similar material passing down a shaft is dried by warm air in a section a and then passes through a cooling section b through which air cooled by water sprayed thereinto from nozzles d and then freed from entrained water by filters f, is passed. After travelling through the section b the grain or other material reaches a second cooling section c through which atmospheric air passes any moisture that has settled on the material being evaporated in this section and so further cooling obtained. An air humidifier with a rotary water atomising device may replace the nozzles d.
