Abstract

510,427. Two-part couplings. GRAVESEN, C. C. Dec. 13, 1938, No. 36371. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] The cord gripping device of a plug or socket coupling comprises a compressible member 5 that is drawn into a tapered opening 2 in the body 1 of the coupling by a screw 9 that also secures the contact-carrying plate 3 to the body 1. The member 5 may be a metal clip bent to provide oblique surfaces 6 to co-operate with the walls of the opening 2. The body is of rectangular cross-section and the plate 3 interengages therewith to prevent rotation when tightening the screw 9 which is centrally arranged.
