509,716. Treating rubber latex. UNITED STATES RUBBER PRODUCTS, Inc. Jan. 21, 1938, No. 2075. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1937. [Class 70] The surface tension of uncompounded rubber latex is raised by adding a small amount of one of the difficultly soluble salts : calcium or magnesium carbonate, strontium sulphate, barium diphosphate, calcium, strontium sulphate, barium diphosphate, calcium, strontium or barium citrate. The latex may be normal or concentrated and may contain creaming agents or preservatives such as ammonia, aliphatic amines or fixed alkalies. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the use of any alkaline earth or magnesium salt having a solubility between 0.3 and 5 millimoles of the metal per litre. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
