509,375. Artificial filaments. RHEINISCHE ZELLWOLLE AKT. - GES. Sept. 23, 1938, No. 27810. Convention date, Sept. 23, 1937. [Class 2 (ii)] Artificial threads of fibrous Structure and high tensile strength are produced from highly concentrated cellulose solutions, containing, for example, 12 per cent of cellulose, by extrusion through nozzles, the length of the bore of which is at least twenty times their internal diameter, into a precipitating bath with the aid of high pressure ; for example, 40 atmospheres. The threads may be subjected to a stretching process in the precipitating bath, or are drawn off at a lower speed than their speed of entry, in order to produce a curling effect.
