Abstract

509,267. Walls. KERR, W. H. Jan. 17, 1938, No. 1525. [Class 20 (iv)] A wall, particularly for courts for squashrackets, comprises a supporting structure having stretched across and secured thereto, a base I of open-woven textile material, a reinforced cementitious composition which is applied to the base 1 and consists of, or includes, a porous layer comprising a mixture of cement, sand, and granulated pumice, and a finishing- coat of gypsum plaster applied to the porous layer. The base 1 may be secured to studs 2 by means of wood laths 3 and may be first covered with a layer 4 consisting of a cementitious composition formed of equal quantities of cement and sand. A reinforcement 5 of expanded-metal, rods, &c., is either embedded in this layer or placed over the same, and the porous layer 6 formed of the pumice-cement composition referred to above is then applied. The finishing coating 7, which may consist of anhydrous calcium plaster, is subsequently applied and trowelled to form a smooth surface. When the first layer 4 is omitted the reinforcement 5 is embedded in the porous layer 6. In the treatment of an existing wall, the base 1 is stretched across battens disposed on the wall surface.
