Abstract

1418914 Floor surfacings BAYER AG 13 Nov 1972 [13 Nov 1971] 52213/72 Heading E1G A substrate e.g. a floor is coated by applying to the substrate an aggregate, and then applying anhydrite as an inorganic binder in such a consistency that it forms a self levelling surface. The aggregate is preferably gravel which may be dry or in moist form. Other aggregate mentioned is pumice, expanded clay or mixtures thereof. The substrate may be a concrete floor which may have a separating layer consisting of a thin plastics sheet placed thereover. Penetration of the binder through the layer of aggregate can be promoted by using vibrators. A thin layer of binder which may be cement or synthetic resin may be initially applied to the floor before scattering of the aggregate before applying the final coating of binder. The aggregate may be applied as a mortar of cement and aggregate or synthetic resin and aggregate. In an example a layer consisting of gravel and a polyurethane binder is first applied, followed by a layer containing 100 parts anhydrite, 28 parts water, 2 parts activator, 0.5 parts anionic melamine resin.
