509,023. Glass manufacture. SHEPPEE MOTOR & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and JOWITT, S. G. Jan. 10, 1938, No. 673. [Class 56] Relates to pneumatically-operated machines for feeding or shaping molten glass, and consists in cushioning the piston of each operating- cylinder to a variable extent by means of an adjustable valve disposed on or in the casing of the timing-valve disposed on or in the casing of the timing-valve associated with the cylinder. The timing-device is preferably of the kind described in Specification 509,022, comprising a number of timing-valves each composed of a casing 14 containing a spool valve, an inlet manifold 10; ports 16 leading to the cylinders, and exhaust manifolds 11. The passages 27 between each valve barrel and the manifolds 11 are provided with manuallyoperable valves 28. Compressed air exhausts from the operating-cylinders through the timing-valves to the manifolds 11, and the rate of exhaust is adjustable by means of the valve 28. Instead of being arranged in the casing 14, the valves 28 may be placed in pipes leading from the casing to the atmosphere.
