Abstract
508,720. Surgical trusses. PEARSE, F. S. S. Jan. 25, 1938, No. 2431. [Class 81 (ii)] A hernia truss comprises a spring band or ribbon 12 connected at one end to a truss pad 13 and at the opposite end to a rectangular plate 10 resting on the hip, without passing behind the back of the wearer, the end which is attached to truss pad being directed inwardly and downwards so as to lie below the end attached to the plate when the truss is in the normal position for use, and an elastic band 18 connected to the plate and adapted to be connected to the truss pad. The plate may have upturned edges and a cross-piece to which the elastic band is hooked. The length of the latter may be adjusted by a slide 20 which together with the plate may have a cushioning pad of rubber or the like on its inside face. The spring band may bo of steel and covered for most of its length with ritbber. A loop 23 on the plate and a stud 24 on the truss pad are provided if an under-strap is necessary.
