Abstract
463,952. Trusses. MORGAN, T. Oct. 4, 1935, No. 27377. [Class 81 (ii)] A surgical truss comprises a curved belt, provided with a spring to retain its shape, which may be formed in two parts 1, 2 connected at the front by a suitable fastener 7, 8 and which is provided with locating projections 10, of elongated form with their length transverse to the length of the belt, which are adapted for engagement with hip bones of the body to retain the hernia pad 15, or pads in position. The projections are preferably hollow cylinders 21 of rubber with a leather or like covering, and they are locked in position by an extensible or elastic strap 11 which is preferably attached to the stiff belt at points in front of the projections 10. The hernia pads comprise a sponge rubber member secured to a rigid plate 16 which is secured at one edge to a resilient plate 17, the other end of which is connected to a plate 18 with overturned edges 19 which slidably engage with the rigid belt 3. The pads may be mounted on either or both portions of the belt and may be of any suitable size or shape.
