Abstract

542,946. Surgical splints. HAYES, W. Aug. 24, 1940, No. 13418. [Class 81 (ii)] A splint e.g. a leg splint, comprises two panels a, b of plywood connected by canvas, oiled silk &c. k which is padded and covers both k sides of each splint. A roll of bandage is threaded through a hole h and is utilized in securing the splint in position by winding it round projections e. A lateral flap l may be used, and also an extension with slots m, n in securing round the body and beneath the arms. The canvas k may be replaced by straps. Two pairs of panels connected by the canvas k may be used in an arm splint. The panels may be of wood, metal, synthetic resin, vulcanite &c. They are so shaped that they may be used in either leg or arm.
