Abstract
508,420. Systems of lighting for rooms. BELL & CO., Ltd., C. H., and COLLISON, G. W. April 19, 1938, No. 11725. [Class 75 (iv)] In a lighting system for rooms consisting of fittings adapted for attachment to a wall or ceiling and made in standard lengths so that two or more lengths can be connected together as desired, each length comprises brackets 1 carrying rods 2, 3 which support an outer cover plate 6 and on the lower one 3 of which are disposed spaced vertical strips 4, this arrangement providing a distribution of light in upward and downward directions without the light source 9 being readily visible. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the outer cover plate 6 is constituted by overlapping vertical strips 6a which are detachably secured to stepped members carried by the rods 2, 3. Fig. 8 shows an arrangement in which two fittings disposed back-to-back are suspended by rods 13 from the ceiling 10. In order to provide for connecting together the standard lengths, the outer edges of the strips 4 and each edge of the plate 6, or the outer edges of the strips 6a, are rolled and fitted at one end with pins adapted to engage in the sockets formed by the rolled edges on an adjacent length.
