Abstract

508,216. Hay loaders &c. KIRK, J., and WILSON, T. Jan. 3, 1938, Nos. 58 and 37812. [Class 6 (iii)] A hay lifting and ricking machine comprises lifting forks 3 driven by cranks or eccentrics on a shaft 4 which throw the hay on to a short band conveyer 38 which carries it to the main elevating conveyer formed by a lower endless band 20 and an upper endless band 26. The band 20 operates in a channel shaped frame 22 and the band 26 is supported in a frame 24 pivoted at the upper end of the frame 22 but free to swing therein. The hay falls into a container having a fixed front part 9 and rear doors 9<1> hinged to the front portion. The floor of the container is in three parts, the front part 12 resting on a transverse rod 14 and adapted to be pulled forward by a cable 17 until the roar edge of this part, which is provided with a strengthening bar 15, is drawn clear of a transverse supporting bar 16 and falls to the ground. The two rear parts 13 are hinged to the doors 9<1> and, when these doors are closed, rest on the bar 15. When the container is full the part 12 of the floor is drawn forward and the doors 9<1> opened thus depositing the hay upon the ground.
