Abstract
507,351. Treating liquids with gases. SMITH, T. B., and DORMAN, LONG, & CO., Ltd. Feb. 8, 1938, No. 3956. [Class 55 (ii)] [Also in Group III] Gas containing ammonia is introduced into a saturator 1 through a pipe 6 and delivering nozzle 7 and passes away through a gas offtake 5. Solution flows through a pipe 13 to an inner seal pot 12 and from thence to an outer seal pot 11 from which it is withdrawn through a pipe 14 by means of a centrifugalpump 15. It is then fed by a pipe 16 and nozzle 17 provided with radially-directed perforations 18 into the saturator near the bottom thereof. In this way upward currents are provided in the body of the solution. When the crystals reach the desired size they fall to the bottom of the saturator and are removed by an ejector 20 which feeds a mixture of solution and crystals to decanting trays (not shown). The solution is returned continuously therefrom by a seal pot 8 and tubes 9 and 10. Specification 330,947, [Class 1 (ii)], and 423,397, [Group III], are referred to.
