Abstract
501,765. Catalytic &c. apparatus. KOPPERS' INDUSTRIEELE MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V., H. Sept. 6, 1937, No. 24318. Convention date, Sept. 5, 1936. [Class 1 (i)] Apparatus for treating gases with or in the presence of granular solids, e.g. catalysts, comprises a shaft-like reaction chamber 1 having means 7, 8 for charging the granular material at the top and discharging it from the bottom of the chamber, and Field tubes 2, 2<1> extending from the top of the chamber into the granular material and conveying a heating or cooling fluid which does not enter the chamber itself. To facilitate discharge of the solid the bottom of the chamber may be conical with the outlet at the apex.
