[Class 40 (v)] In a directional receiver in which voltages from two crossed frame aerials a, b are applied via separate receivers e, f, to two mutually perpendicular deflection systems k, m of e cathode-ray indicator n, the receivers or associated amplifiers are interchanged at a predetermined frequency by means of the synchronouslyoperated switches c, d and g, h. By this means any error due to change or unbalance of the receivers is avoided and it is even advantageous to employ receivers of different amplification. If the voltages from the frames a, b are not in phase, two angularly-displaced elliptical traces o, q, Fig. 3, are obtained; the line of intersection s giving the true direction.
